SpeedWork Symposium, 29th April 2010, 10am – 4pm
The democratic use of public space as a place for free and creative expression
A daytime event at the House for an Art Lover, the symposium will provide an opportunity to discuss public art commissioning in relation to Jacqueline Donachie’s residency here and new work in Bellahouston Park.
Using examples of innovative, challenging and exceptional works commissioned for public spaces, on varying scales and of both a permanent and temporary nature, the day will provide a platform for discussion from local and international standpoints.
Keynote presentations from artists including Toby Paterson and Heather and Ivan Morison, and commissioning organisations Berlin Skulptur Park, Situations in Bristol and Deveron Arts, Huntly will be followed by a session on Glasgow’s past, present and future potential, including a A New Path, a public art project being developed by Jenny Crowe and Sorcha Dallas.

Followed by an outdoor evening performance and music event, in collaboration with students from Glasgow School of Art Sculpture and Environmental Art departments, from 4-8pm. Pay bar.
